School Councils
At The Bankfield School we offer our students the opportunity to discuss school issues and contribute their ideas in a democratic forum. The recommendations made by the councils are one of the ways students can help to improve and enhance school life.
Students are elected by their peers, on to one of the three councils. Issues raised by the students are discussed at the meetings. The meetings foster active citizenship, promote the interests of the students and promote the practice of 'good education'.
The Student Council webpage can be found on the Bankfield VLP here.

Form Prefects
For several years, The Bankfield School has adopted a system of 'buddying'.
Year eleven prefects are carefully selected to act as 'form prefects' in all the year seven forms.
Their role is to help settle the new students in, help create a caring ethos and offer the younger students a familiar 'friendly face'. Their job does not take the place of the form tutor or the Head of Year but it does enhance and supplement the teachers' role. For their part, the older students learn skills that will assist them in later life.
The current prefects are
Transfer of students to Bankfield
From Primary Schools
The Bankfield School operates an extensive Primary School Liaison Programme for students in Year 6. The Programme involves students visiting Bankfield and being taught in specialist rooms. It also involves teachers at Bankfield visiting local Primary Schools, teaching a variety of different subjects.
Early in Autumn Term, parents and students in Year 6 are invited to attend an Open Evening. This provides an opportunity to see the school and its facilities. If parents are unable to attend, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting Miss Flavin (Assistant Headteacher).
On selection, children in Year 6 are informed of an Intake Day in the Summer where they will have the opportunity of meeting their Head of Year, Form Tutor and other members of their Form. The children will spend the day at The Bankfield School and will have a timetable of activities for the day. On the same date, there will be an Intake Evening for parents to meet their child's Form Tutor and Head of Year.
