DiDA is the Diploma in Digital Applications it is designed to stimulate students’ creativity and develop real-world, practical skills that will motivate learning across a wide range of subjects and prepare them for the real world of work or further education.
The DIDA offers different types of qualification’s these inlcude:
AiDA (award) – 1 GCSE students have to complete unit 1 only
CiDA (certificate) – 2 GCSEs students have to complete unit 1 and any other unit
DiDA (diploma) – 4 GCSEs students have to complete all four units
This course is only being offered to the current year 11 who have completed unit 1 and 2 and are on course to complete units 3 and 4 this year.
The DiDA consists of the following units:
Unit 1: Using ICT
This unit is to be completed for all levels of qualification. In this unit the students will develop knowledge and skills on:
- Using information sources
- Working with information
- Presenting information
- Print and digital publishing
- Creating an eportfolio
- Project planning, monitoring and evaluation
Unit 2: Multimedia
This enables students to gain practical ability in a range of multimedia applications. The students will develop knowledge and skills on:
- Investigating multimedia products
- Designing and developing multimedia products
- Prototyping and testing
- Presenting multimedia products in an eportfolio
- Project planning, monitoring and evaluation
Unit 3: Graphics
This gives students the ability to design and produce artwork that is effective at communicating with different audiences on screen and in print. The students will develop knowledge and skills on:
- Selecting material
- Developing graphic images
- Using appropriate software, such as bit-map and vector-based tools
- Preparing images for screen and print
- Presenting work in an eportfolio and creating an e-exhibition
- Project planning, monitoring and evaluation
Unit 4: ICT in Enterprise
This gives students the chance to apply business techniques such as market research, financial planning and product promotion to their skills in digital applications. It develops important real-world skills, including communication, problem solving and decision making. The students will develop knowledge and skills on:
- Exploring business opportunities
- Preparing and presenting business plans
- Business communications
- Advertising and promotions
- Project planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Creating an e-business plan
Unit 5: Game Authoring
This gives students the chance to design and produce interactive computer games. The students will develop knowledge and skills on:
- different types of games, game features and game play
- producing a game proposal and production plan
- designing and developing games for others to play, employing an iterative, participatory approach to game development from initial concept to final game, using feedback from others to inform the process
- showcasing achievements
- reviewing games and suggest improvements
- using ICT efficiently and safely
