Hardware
We teach in 5 FULLY EQUIPPED ICT suites.
Each room has its own
• Colour printer
• Scanner
• Projector
• Interactive Whiteboard
• Internet access
Students also have access to digital and video cameras, webcams, headphones and microphones so that they can complete work such as podcasting and vodcasting.
Software
All the software packages used within the subject are identical to those used within industry. Students become experienced users of:
- Microsoft Word: this is used for students to create flyers, faxes, business reports, letters and memos
- Microsoft Excel: this is used for students to work on financial calculations, macros and modelling
- Microsoft Power Point: students use this to create professional presentations and slide shows
- Microsoft Access: students create a database and then manipulate the data and store and retrieve data
- Paint/Publisher/Serif Photo Plus: Students use this to create different graphics and desktop publishing
- Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia: this is one example of the software that is offered to students to create websites
- The Internet/Encarta: students use this for information gathering, selection, analysis and application
- Dreamweaver: this is a web design software which students use to create their own websites in a variety of subjects
- Photoshop: this is ideal for students who want to create films, videos, multimedia presentations, graphics websites and 3D and motion pictures
- InDesign: this integrates smoothly with Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver software it allows students the opportunity to create richer, more complex documents and reliably outputs pages to multiple media
- Flash: this is an advanced authoring environment for creating rich, interactive content for digital, web, and mobile platforms. Students can create interactive websites, media advertisements, engaging presentations and games
- Open mind: Mind mapping program which students can use to create a mind map and then edit it and export it as a webpage, word document or PowerPoint presentation
- Screen corder: Students can record the work they are doing
- Virtual PC: Students can build a virtual computer and make changes to the computer without effecting the school network
Students also have access to a range of software that is used within other departments. We are regularly updating both software and hardware provision throughout the school.
In ICT lessons, we attempt to supply a computer for EACH student – NO SHARING SHOULD BE NECESSARY. |
